Foundation Safety and Rescue

Venue: Llyn Padarn, Llanberis

Date: 8th February 2014

Times: Course starts 0900hrs. Aiming to finish by 1700hrs.

Equipment: We will carry out rescues of and from general purpose kayaks, sea kayaks and canoes.  Please come with equipment to paddle the full range of craft relevant to the award.  Bring your own boat that is fitted with adequate buoyancy.

If you have items of kit from the list below please bring it. Otherwise I will bring a range of equipment for use on the course.

• Throwline

• Towline

• Open length of climbing tape 3 to 4 metres long

• 2 large HMS karabiners

• Knife

• Whistle

By its very nature this is a very wet course.  Although we will keep the amount of time spent in the water to a minimum, you should prepare for this.  It may be worth bringing a second set of wet kit to change into should you feel the need to warm up.

Please ensure that in addition to warm clothing suitable for swimming in, you have sturdy footwear and a well fitting helmet and a buoyancy aid.
